By George! Mr. Washington’s Guide to Civility Today CLE with author Steven Selzer

When author Steven Selzer, Esquire was researching the subject of civility, he found that George Washington had written 110 rules of civility at the age of 14. Although these guidelines are 250 years old, they are still pertinent in today’s society. By George! Mr. Washington’s Guide to Civility Today presents the 110 rules with engaging and conversational commentary after each rule, describing how they can be applied in modern life.

From the Garden State Parkway
Take the Parkway to the end, Exit "0", to 109 South, Follow Route 109 over a large then a small bridge. This becomes Lafayette Street. Follow Lafayette Street through two traffic lights to the end. Lafayette will end at Jackson Street where there is a green liquor store called "Collier's". Turn left onto Jackson Street and immediately turn right onto Mansion Street. Continue to stop sign and turn left onto Perry Street. Make first right onto Congress Place and turn left into hotel reception area.

From Philadelphia
Walt Whitman Bridge to 42 South, to Atlantic City Expressway East. Take the A.C. Expressway to the Garden State Parkway south. G.S. Parkway to end, Exit "0", to 109 South, Follow Route 109 over the Cape May bridge onto Lafayette Street. Follow Lafayette Street approximately 1.5 miles until you dead end at Jackson Street. Turn left onto Jackson Street and immediately turn right onto Mansion Street. Continue to stop sign and turn left onto Perry Street. From the Cape May Lewes Ferry
From the Ferry Terminal in North Cape May, follow the signs for Route 109 South and the Garden State Parkway. Take Route 109 South over the Cape May bridge onto Lafayette Street. Follow Lafayette Street approximately 1.5 miles until you dead end at Jackson Street. Turn left onto Jackson Street and immediately turn right onto Mansion Street. Continue to stop sign and turn left onto Perry Street. Make first right onto Congress Place and turn left into hotel reception area.

From Washington/Baltimore
95 North to Delaware Memorial Bridge, take bridge to Route 40 East. Follow Route 40 to Route 55 South to end (at Route 47 South). Route 47 South to Garden State Parkway South. G.S. Parkway to end, Exit "0", to 109 South, Follow Route 109 over the Cape May bridge onto Lafayette Street. Follow Lafayette Street approximately 1.5 miles until you dead end at Jackson Street. Turn left onto Jackson Street and immediately turn right onto Mansion Street. Continue to stop sign and turn left onto Perry Street. Make first right onto Congress Place and turn left into hotel reception area.

Whiney wife and whiney husband will pose dozens of “can he/she do that?” questions to a panel of three experienced family lawyers.  Even though these questions may be annoying to us as practitioners, the same questions are sometimes the  most important issues in regard to the parties. Do you, as a practitioner, handle them with the  “deer-in-the-headlight” stare, or can you try to solve the problems with some good practical advice. Marta Laynas, Esquire, will chair the panel who will be answering these burning questions.

Judge Katherine B. L. Platt will chair this Conference Schedule panel consisting of a custody conciliator, a mediator, and a family law practitioner. The panel will suggest ways to improve the general culture of custody  litigation. The panel will look at this issue from each of their individual perspectives and give the attendees some practical pointers for successfully negotiating a cease-fi re between custody litigants.

Speakers will discuss strategies and techniques in examining expert witnesses in civil cases and administrative hearings. It is geared towards the new practitioner and will focus on medical and non-medical experts. Both the plaintiff and defense  perspective will be provided. Peter J. Hart, Esquire and Glenn E. Davis, Esquire will present and PBI materials on this topic will be available to each registrant.
